The Regent and Plaza Theatres opened by Frank Thring Snr in 1929 as Australia's first duplex cinema. Closing in 1970, the building lay unused for 26 years. The Marriner Theatre Group refurbished the venue and it opened as the Regent Theatre and Plaza Ballroom in 1996. |
