Things Theatrical |
| Abstract/Description |
The opening of Mr. Wyatt's splendid new Theatre in Pitt-street, the Royal Victoria, may very justly be set down as the commencement of a new era in the history of the Drama in New South Wales. The low ebb to which theatricals have been reduced has arisen not so much from the want of dramatic talent, as from the beggarly nature of the acoommodations, the slovenly manner in which the pieces have been got up, and above all
from the entire absence of any precautions to secure the respectability of the Theatre, and to prevent the intrusion of persons of disreputable character among the dress circle audience. |
