The Theatres. The Midnight Wedding |
| Abstract/Description |
As was to be expected, there was a very large audience at the Criterion last night to witness the first production in Australia of 'The Midnight Wedding,' a romantic drama in four acts by Walter Howard. Messrs. Meynell and Gunn have given the play every chance, for the staging and dressing are on a lavish scale, whilst their company has been specially strengthened by the engagement of Mr. Harcourt Beatty, one of the best and most popular actors who have appeared in Australia. There may be improbabilities here
and there, but without question the play is full of striking incident. |
