Who's Who and What's What - Walter Baker |
| Abstract/Description |
A PICTURESQUE ACTOR many years ago was Walter Baker, now President of the Australian Actors' Federation. He is a fine speaker, with an equally fine presence, and, besides, possesses no in considerable amount of legal knowledge. In a Sydney court last week he was called upon to answer a trivial technical charge departmentally made against his organisa tion. He replied so eloquently and effectively that Magistrate MacDougal said: 'Yours was one of the best addresses ever made to me, and if you don't mind my saying so, I think you have missed your avocation. You ought to be at the Bar table.' In the latter capacity Walter probably would have made much more money but the theatre-going public would have lost a great many pleasant thrills. |
