Title Gorgeous pantomime: Dick Whittington success
Abstract/Description Preceded by a fascinating scene, in which Father Christmas looks over the panto album, and discloses some very charming tableaux of the heroes and heroines of nursery lore, 'Dick Whittington' scored a decided success at the Grand Opera House yesterday afternoon. Written and produced by Dan Thomas, 'the gorgeous pantomime' is artistically presented on an unusually lavish scale. There are, in all, fifteen scenes, and each is a decided success from the spectacular, musical, and humorous point of view. Mr. Thomas has made the most of the opportunities provided by the classic old story, and charming ballets, elaborately costumed, processions, melodious choruses, and many a merry quip and quirk by the strong cast of comedians kept Saturday's audience in high good humor.
