A Charming Play. The Wind and the Rain |
| Abstract/Description |
This is one ot those rare pieces or autobiographical writing which with such ease, fluency, and simplicity that it may easily be mistaken for the calculated stagecraft of a mature and experienced playwright. "The Wind and the Rain" is a little fragment of life, lifted from its flesh and blood setting and put behind the footlights. The author sat
down to write something about his own experiences as a medical student, and in so doing created a charming work of art. For there is nothing studied about this play, no striving for situations, no melodrama, and very little drama. Its penetrating, living quality and the vitality of the characters do not require the stimulus of theatrical situation or carefully polished dialogue. |
