Mr Pim Passes By - Vanbrugh-Boucicault Season |
| Abstract/Description |
Playgoers in Sydney know from former acquaintance with Mr. Carraway Pim that he was a very eccentric person. At the Criterion Theatre on Saturday evening he appeared to be, in Mr. Dion Boucicault's hands, an absurdly preposterous old gentleman. The new interpretation of Mr. Pim differs very considerably from the previous rendering of the part in Sydney. There seemed to be over-emphasis of Mr Pim's peculiar mannerisms. But it should be added that, as Mr. Boucicault created the part at the New theatre, London, in 1920, he must be thoroughly conversant with what the dramatist intended. |
