| Abstract/Description |
Broken Hill Repertory Society had over the past year maintained its production standards and its financial position was sound, said its energetic chairman, Mr R. Cawdle. The Society were [sic], however, faced with one or two problems that would be debated at Friday's meeting. [...] Personally speaking Mr Cawdle lugubriously expressed dissatisfaction at the attitude with which Repertory is still commonly regarded. [...] "It is not something high-brow", he said. [...] [Repertory] has a duty to its own community", he continued. [...] Memebership has dropped about 200 from the peak of 1,000 [...] This was attributable, he considered, to dissatisfaction in the outlay of re-equipment. |
