Title If This Be Error: new Repertory play
Abstract/Description It was unfortunate for the Repertory Society that in presenting the final play for the year "If This Be Error" by Rachel Grieve, the cast should have had to contend with so many unfavourable elements. The late start on such a sultry night made the audience understandably restless, while the rain on the roof and the noise of pop bottles rolling around the floor frustrated the player's efforts to make themselves heard. ... During the year giant strides have been made in general production and Sunday night's play maintained the high standard that has been reached in the settings, dressing and stage craft. The chief weakness in "If This Be Error" as in various plays during the year was the unequal quality of the acting ... this is inevitable as long as newcomers are being "broken-in", and I feel that the long range policy on the part of the directors of our Repertory, what they have been doing this year is right ... we should reap the benefit of having an extended pool of players with experience behind them in next year's productions.
