| Notes |
A Black theatre group from London who toured the north island in 1979, visiting community centres and marae. The troupe was named after a small Guyanese bird renowned for its resilience - the Keskidee - and consisted of Black British, African-Caribbean, African-American and African performers, including a group of Rasta musicians, the Ras Messengers. The NZ organisers of the tour called their collective Keskidee Aroha. From the abstract to Robbie Shilliam's article 'Keskidee Aroha: Translation on the Colonial Stage' Journal of Historical Sociology Vol. 24, No. 1 March 2011. 81 - 99. |
