Description Leonard Vole, a youngish man, was instrumental in saving an elderly lady, Miss Emily French, from being run over by a bus. Leonard was also lucky in this regard, as he was a man without means, with a wife to support, and Miss French was a woman of substance. She eventually named Leonard in her Will as principal beneficiary, but soon after her murder occurred. Leonard, who was known to visit her, was eventually arrested and charged with the crime.
