Description Lewis transports us back in time (and sideways somewhat) to a Victorian-inspired 'age of mechanical marvels' where drudgery has been eliminated thanks to the invention of robot drones. Now everyone can be part of the leisure classes.

Travelling with his aunt from the country, young Aleksander ? orphaned son of a brilliant inventor - is encountering the so-called 'industrials' for the first time. He's terrified at first. Why wouldn't he be? His father was killed by a prototype robot during a demonstration that went horribly wrong.
