Imago, created and staged by Blue Mountains-based Willem Brugman... The work starts with the actor sitting half-naked in what seems to be a dark desert landscape, a scene of desolation. But as he begins moving around the empty space, dressing and lighting candles set in a circle, a stunning series of images taken in the space around our world fill the wall behind him. The light, the imagery, the actor's movements and his occasional words say a lot about our past, present and future in just 20 minutes, ending with a guarded optimism. |
