| Description |
Set in 1870 on the eve of the Franco-Prussian War. Lucy is about to be married, by parental arrangement, to Thomas Trout. However Thomas befriends an actor Pierre Fontaine who is introduced to Lucy only to fall madly in love with her. The pair flee to France to elope with Lucy's family in tow. News reaches the pair that war has been declared and Pierre leaves to fight for France. Lucy is told Pierre is dead and returns to Thomas, only to find she has been given a false account of events by a vengeful Suzanne, and the two lovers are re-united. |
