| Description |
Founded at the end of the sixteenth century, Kabuki dance embodies much of the mystique, ritual and symbolism of Japanese culture. The company will perform two plays. The first, RENJISHI, based on the Chinese legendary tale of the lion parent giving its child strict training in the rigours of survival - to the extend of pushing it over a cliff. The other, KASANE POSSESSED, a play about an illicit love affair. This work dates from 1873. Life, death, evil deeds and retribution are the dominating themes. |
