Description It might have been bearable had Mr Brian Bell, who directed, been prepared to see the play as - new genre - Farce of Outrage. What he gave us was an evening poised somewhere between coy farce and Music Hall; the four characters took some time off to face the audience square on and harangue it about Life. Most glaring example of this seemed to me the moment where Sloane sits down front, legs straddling a chair back on, while Kath and Ed each grab a shoulder and gaze at him mistily. Heart of play, I noted sourly at the time.
