This is very much a New Zealand Hamlet -- a Hamlet reflecting our times. The production has a No 8 wire feel to it. Though it is never clear what is rotten in this state of Denmark, it is clear that the Royal House of Denmark is made up of ordinary, contemporary people and precious little deference is paid to them because of their status. |
