Description When 'The Apple Tree' originally opened on Broadway in 1966, 'The Diary of Adam and Eve,' adapted from a Mark Twain story, was considered the strongest of the show's three tales, the other two being a variation of Frank R. Stockton's 'Lady or the Tiger' and 'Passionella,' Jules Feiffer's contemporary Hollywood twist on 'Cinderella.' And in the director Robert Nigro's vivaciously staged revival for the York Theater Company, the Twain fable still stands out as the most durable of the three vignettes, all of which portray men unwittingly ensnared by female schemes.
