Set in New Zealand in 1919 as the ANZAC troops return from the Great War. 'It is essential that any production of Much Ado address two primary requirements of the text. First, the action must occur immediately after a war. Second, virginity must be esteemed as a social good'. |

This production was Miranda Harcourt's professional directing debut. Hewlett, Donald, Collins, Brown and Reeves were all third year Toi Whakaari/New Zealand Drama School students on a training secondment scheme. 1999 Chapman Tripp Award nominations: Production of the year (WON); Miranda Harcourt director of the year; best actors - Tim Balme (WON) & Robyn Malcolm; best costume design - Nic Smillie; best set design - Andrew Thomas (WON).
