Description Hall has sifted through years of material from Parliament's Hansard files. We see the same issues crop up year after year, decade after decade, generation after generation. Millions of words can be spoken and nothing is changed. … There is something deliciously familiar about the well-worn barbs, the almost predictable rhymes. … I find this ultimately a serious play, for its attention to the political fundamentals. Hall as diligent student of the record is not quite so important as Hall the acute observer of what that record means… Blame on minority groups… racism… homosexual law reform … war… past/present ironies… Mabel Howard… Muldoon and Lange… The great beauty of The Hansard Show is that it tells all, or allows all the sides to be seen, allows the truths to tell themselves.
