In celebration of the birthday of Dr. Sun Yat Sen, and of the forthcoming first Chinese People's Congress, the Australia-China Co-operation Movement held an entertainment before a packed audience at the Comedy Theatre. Professor R. M. Crawford presided, and addresses were given by the Consul-General for China (Dr. C. J. Pao), the vice-consul (Mr W. Y. Tsao), Mr I. Milner (lecturer) and Mr. J. F. Chapple (Victorian Railways Union). The speeches were preceded by a pageant of Chinese historical beauties, and a dramatic sketch, Chinese Road, by Vance Palmer, and acted by the New Theatre Group. |
