| Description |
A Frigate Bird Sings explores the life of Vili, as a fa'afafine (Samoan third gender) and an immigrant, in search of self-identity and integrity. Through Wili we see the conflict of Western and Pacific Island values and attitudes portrayed in all its comic and tragic consequences. Vili's story is about humanity, those living on the edge, unheard and often left behind. Specially commissioned for the Festival, this new play is created by the team responsible for the highly successful Fresh Off The Boat, writer Oscar Kightley, director Nathaniel Lees, whose credits include Think of a Garden and Marlin Bay, and actor/writer David Fane, of Skitz. |
