| Description | “On Friday evening last the Deaf and Dumb and Blind Entertainers gave one of their popular entertainments in the Campbelltown Tows Hall, when there was a fair audience present. Bach and all of the performers executed their parts in a first-class manner. Mr. A. Solomon) the blind comedian, created roars of laughter with his comic songs. Some of his puns were new to most of the audience and his local bite took very well. He had to respond to an encore upon each appearance. Mr. Taylor with his lightning sketches on the blackboard showed that, although deaf and dumb, he was an artist of no mean order. Some of his caricatures were real life like, and any pictures pertaining to local residents tended to keep the audience in excellent spirits. An exhibition of the various, systems used by the deaf and dumb was given by Mr. A. Morgan, (oral), Miss A. Woodard (manual) and Mr. W. Taylor (sign). Miss Annie Drummond and Mr. J. Irwin also took part. The entertainment was very amusing throughout.” | |
