Description Child amateurs trained by Miss Butler presented 4 singing tableaux: 'Sinbad the Sailor;' Red Riding Hood;'Bebas in the Wood;' and 'Beauty and the Beast.' The boys, 'with faces blackened and costumes of every possible variety ... sang Christy Minstrel songs, danced, and even laughed.'

Further Information The performance was in aid of the proposed Goldfields Convalescent Home. 'Citizen,' in a letter to the editor (Coolgardie Miner 15 Jul. 1897, vol 4, no.810, p.6), having bought a ticket for 1/-, had been unable to find the location of the proposed homes, or who was on the committee.
