Auckland Star, Volume XXV, Issue 293, 8 December 1894, Page 5 - Mr Austin Power-Lepoer will no doubt be remembered as having been associated many years ago in Auckland with such artists as Mr William Hoskings, J. K. Emmett, Mrs Robert Heir, and the Singards, during which time he made many friends in this city, and was highly spoken of by the newspapers as a lad with gifted histrionic ability. He now returns to Auckland after a lapse of 18 years, during which time he has travelled the world in a professional capacity, and has for some few years been married to a gifted singer and elecutionary artiste. ALICE'S LETTER TO HER READERS. Otago Witness , Issue 1894, 22 May 1890, Page 37 - Among the amusements of the week was an entertainment given by Mr and Mrs Austin Power on Wednesday evening. Mr Power is an old Dunedinite, and has just returned after a three years' residence in India where he unfortunately suffered from sunstroke. Mrs Power made her mark in literary circles in the Straits Settlement, where both made many friends. Their entertainment is admirably suited to country towns, and I wish them a successful tour. The Social Sphere The Lorgnette Observer, Volume XV, Issue 843, 23 February 1895, Page 8 - Mr and Mrs Power-Lepoer, who have recently taken up their permanent residence in Auckland, are both professionals of long standing and considerable popularity. Mr Power Lepoer is better known in Auckland as Austin Power. More than twenty years ago, he was playing as a comedian in Auckland with Mrs Robert Heir and other people of that day, and since then he has visited us with the Lingards, Emmetts, Baker & Farron, and others. In one of the intervals, Power enlisted as a soldier and served in the Afghanistan war. The professional name of his wife is Madame Londra, and she is a talented vocalist as well as an actress. Mr and Mrs Power-Lepoer talk of taking pupils for the stage and music in Auckland. Auckland Star, Volume XXVI, Issue 177, 26 July 1895, Page 2 - About 10.30 last night a man named Austin Power - Lepoer, who resides in Kepple-street, Arch Hill, whilst going home from the Opera House, fell down on the kerb at the corner of Queen and Market-streets, and received a severe scalp wound which necessitated his removal to the Hospital. He toured with a group called The Wanderers, which included his wife. |
