| Abstract/Description |
Since our last, the beautiful dramatic piece of the Maid and Magpie has been produced by Mr. Cameron's company. The part of Annette was enacted by Mrs. Cameron in
that lady's usual excellent style, and the difficult character of Blaisot was very capitally performed by Mr. Jordan, in that actor's playful and amusing manner. The performers, we hear, will give a play next week for the benefit of that admirable institution, the infant school.
The new scenery which has been for some time in preparation for Mr. Deane's theatre at the Argyle rooms, was completed on Monday, when the performance opened to an audience of no less than 370 persons, the orchestra and the whole of the dramatic corps singing ' God Save the King.' The fittings up of this splendid room, so well adapted for musical performances, have cost Mr. Deane, we learn, upwards of 300l. |
