To the Editor of the Sydney Gazette [Theatre] |
| Abstract/Description |
As a lover of the drama, I attended the theatre on Saturday last, to witness the first five-act play performed (I believe) in Australia. The entertainments consisted of the Heir at Law and the Village Lawyer ; and I must say that the performance of the first piece excelled every attempt hitherto made to please an audience by Mr. Levey, the proprietor. Still, while I wish him success, I would recommend him to fine, and that too, heavily, each performer who may not be " up" in his or her part ; for I must say, that the prompter is sometimes as audible as the actor. |
