Description Originally workshopped at the 1977 National Playwright's Conference. Set in a Japanese language classroom, the play centres around the relationship between a tyrannical Hawaiian teacher and his silent pupil, Yamashita, who shares the same name as the Japanese general responsible for planning the invasion of Australia during World War II (and who was subsequently executed by the the American forces).
