Description |
White Paper Flowers was originally written for the ComeOut Festival (South Australia Youth Arts Festival) in 1991. The play is about the events leading up to and including the Tiananmen Square massacre in Beijing in June 1989, delving deeply into the core issues behind the events exploring the dreams and desires motivating the young demonstrators.
Reviewer's Opnion: "Four performers caricature gross and greedy 'old rulers of China'. And high above a scaffolding platform is a huge portrait of Mao Tse-Tung. For this is Tiananmen Square." |
