Description |
John Steinbeck's novella Of Mice and Men (1937) is a 20th-century classic. His grimly tragic tale of two drifters chasing their dreams in Depression-era California has captured the imagination of readers across the globe. In his 1970 operatic version of Steinbeck's book, American composer Carlisle Floyd's aim was to capture the novella's tautness and 'spareness' in his music. |
