Description |
" 'Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead' was first performed in a church hall with no stage by undergraduates from Oxford as part of the 1966 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The Observer critic, Ronald Bryden, in a crucial review, described it as a 'brilliant debut ... erudite comedy, punning, far-fetched, leaping from depth to dizziness'. Kenneth Tynan immediately secured the play for the National Theatre of Britain and eight months later it began what was to become a hugely successful professional season. Since then it has had many produtions around the world, both professional and amateur." |
