Description |
The Tragedy of Tragedies; or the Life and Death of Tom Thumb the Great. Fielding was 23 when he wrote the first version of his "Tom Thumb". It was acted as an afterpiece at the Little Theatre at the Haymarket, and met with such success that he enlarged it into "The Tragedy of Tragedies". A satirical hit at pedantic learning. |
