Description |
"The contemporary of Aeschylus had one opportunity to see a tragedy performed and the rest of his life to remember it. Prometheus Bound, very nearly the earliest surviving play, was created for one such persormance and is for many the most enigmatic work of European drama. It seems to me at once spiritual, vulgar and spectacular. I dedicate this production in that spirit to Dennis Pryor with whom I first read it." Justin McDonnell |
