Description Greek furies and the passionate relationship of a famous painter with his muse are some of the elements in this new play. Sensual, poetic, sordid, satiric and often sublime, Stephen Sewell takes as his starting point the period leading up to a Paris retrospective which would anoint the celebrated Anglo-Irish artist Francis Bacon as the greatest figurative painter of the twentieth century. On the eve of the exhibition his model, muse and lover George Dyer, committed suicide.
