Description |
"The Magic Flute is a peculiar hybrid - part fairytale, part slapstick comedy and part Masonic ritual... Tamino is a heroic prince on a quest. At first, that quest is a false one, given to him by the Queen of the Night, to rescue her beautiful daughter Pamina from the clutches of Sarastro, who heads a clandestine cult to the sun. Once Tamino and his hedonistic squire Papageno reach Pamina, however, their quest is transformed. The lovers must undergo a series of trials to prove that they possess the fortitude for true love." |
