Description |
In 18th century Vienna, the beautiful young Sophie is to be married to the wealthy Baron Ochs. By tradition, Ochs must send to his bride-to-be a silver rose, carried by der Rosenkavalier - 'the rose bearer'. This task falls to the young Count Octavian, who at the climatic moment of the presentation of the rose falls in love with Sophie, thus forsaking the adoration of the noble Marschallin. The story which then unfolds is one of beautiful acceptance - Sophie's acceptance of Octavian's love.
